Three down, 13 to go.

Boston bounced back from a deficit to tie the series with Montreal at 3-3. Game 7 is tomorrow night in Montreal. I am not sure I will be able to watch through both eyes at once.

Someone once said to me -- when circumstances were eerily similar to this in 2004 -- that rookie goaltenders don't win playoff series. Whether it was a haunting prophecy then or it was just a comment designed to push my buttons because I made it a point to root against the Red Sox that year at every chance I was given (I'm going with option B) that season, I'm hoping it rings true tomorrow night. I am hoping that Boston has broken Cary Price.

Providence has been maintaining a healthy 3-0 lead over Manchester. Game 4 is tomorrow night in Manchester. Two games (the first and the third) have come down to OT; the third game (game 2) was won in regulation, but it was tighttighttight until the third period. If there are three teams that can beat us and beat us with very little effort, it's Manchester, Portland, and Hartford. To advance to the third round, the conference finals, we will have to beat two of those three. Do I believe that Manchester could rally and beat us in the next four? Oh, I've seen stranger things happen. But I know that Providence can go all the way to the Calder Finals if they want to. I know I'm in if they get there; I want them to get there. My entire section at the Dunk wants them to get there. My roommate's section wants them to get there. I'm sure there are a few people, here and there, who want them to get there. With the way I saw the bench clear for butt-slappin' congratulations when they won game 1 and 2, I am pretty sure that THEY want to get there.

Also; no giveaways for round one? This is the first time I have attended playoffs at the Dunk and not gotten some godforsaken clappers. What gives? How 'bout a rally towel, Providence? Nice and quiet, yet so much fun to wave around.

Jordan Sigalet looks like he's seen his last days in Providence. UNH goalie Kevin Regan was just signed to a two year deal. He'll be sharing duties with Rask.

my, that's awfully cheery. and awfully presumptuous.

entry-level contracts are 3 years, not two, and regan could end up in the ECHL next year; brown did. rask could end up in boston with thomas; it could be sigalet and regan in providence. rask could be shipped off this summer; so could thomas, so could anyone. nothing is certain yet.

to suggest that jordan might possibly have seen his last days in providence right now -- when providence is in the playoffs kicking ass and taking names, fyi, in part to consistent goaltending by sigalet during the season, who has been one of the most steady goaltending influences in providence for the past several years -- is perhaps one of the rudest speculations possible. how 'bout focusing on the present before we worry about next year? just because boston's season is over it doesn't mean that it's time to think of next year for the rest of the organization yet.

and while there could be a kernel of common-sense truth to what you say, i also believe that if jordan isn't with the organization next year, it will have very little to do with regan. many contracts are up this june, and i'm concerned enough with entertaining the possibilities of the excellent players we could lose. however, in the meantime, if it's ok with you, i think i'm just going to enjoy the bejesus out the rest of providence's season.

Not presumptuous at all, just stating the facts.

Regan was signed to a two year entry level deal, the maximum years allowable for his age under the current CBA. (Reported here: http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins/extras/bruins_blog/)

I gaurantee Rask is going nowhere and neither is Thomas. There's no way Regan plays in the ECHL either (it's a laugh to even put him in the same sentence as Brown), his pedigree is too good for that level of hockey.

From bostonbruins.com:
Regan enjoyed one of the most decorated campaigns in UNH history this past season, as he was named a Hobey Baker finalist, first team All-American, Hockey East Player of the Year (a unanimous selection), New England's Most Valuable Player, Walter Brown Award Winner (given annually to the top American born college hockey player in New England) and selected to the All-Hockey East First Team. In 32 starts, he posted a 23-8-1 record, registered a 2.21 goals against average and earned a .930 save percentage (which ranked 6th nationally).

There's nothing rude about mentioning the writing that's on the wall for Sigalet. He's a great guy, but it looks like his time here is about to come to an end. He's a UFA at the end of the season and the signing of Regan really does mean there's no room for Jordan in Providence.
