Happy 2008.

I know I checked out on you for a bit there, internets. I was off making holidays merry, reconnecting with a delightful sense of holiday spirit, and totaling up some personal accomplishments. When I was done with those shenanigans, I came home from gallivanting to discover that while Santa didn't leave the well-deserved lump of old-school coal in my stocking (here I was thinking that I'd dodged a bullet), he'd instead exacted his revenge on my dual-personality year of bad-girl-vs.-good-girl by breaking my computer. It won't turn on, internets, and while I can use the heck out of a running computer, I am kind of useless when it comes to one that wants to behave as nothing more than a giant paperweight. I am typing atcha from a borrowed laptop that has a broken letter "L" key. I never realized how many Ls there are in the world until I tried to type without them, and I certainly never realized how much I suck at using a touchpad mouse. I am just not a laptop kind of girl, I guess.

What does all this mean for you, the reader, here at SVO? I don't know. I have several games' worth of pictures I wanted to show you, just sitting on a memory card that I can't do a thing with, because I refuse to kill a laptop that's not mine. Things are not helped by the fact that I kind of also checked out hockey when I was busy being the valedictorian of Christmas Spirit, so I'm sketchy on how Boston's doing (heard they ended an 8-game losing streak last yesterday, so that's pretty awesome), and a quick check of the AHL standings shows me that Providence is still behaving as though they've got something to prove to the rest of the league (still dominating at #1 with 28 wins, which is 6 more wins than the #2 spot). I approve of this need to prove something. I hope they prove themselves right into a Calder Cup. I want that for them.

I haven't seen Providence play since the 21st, or Boston since the 22nd (do highlight reels count? Because I caught one of those last night. Progress, she is slow with this one), and I feel very much out of the loop. I had no idea the Wives' Carnival was this coming weekend, and I have no idea when the Providence Skate-with-the-Players is, but I reckon I'd probably better go get my skates sharpened and skate a few laps, because I really do not want to be the reason that an entire professional team is wiped out from klutziness. (Oh yes, it is possible. The depths of my non-coordination sink deeper than ever before charted.)

Happy New Year, internets.

One of my resolutions is to try to type at you more often this year. It's right up there with trying to grocery shop on a more consistent basis, eat more gummi bears (seriously, one can never have enough), save some money, and go to Disney World.

Bring it on, 2008. I'm ready. The question is- are you?
