So, no Jason Spezza for the game tonight (I am beginning to feel like this is a personal slight, Jason. Why must you be hurt almost every time I plan to go to the FleetCenter TDBNGarden to see your team live?), and no Dave Krejci- he was sent to Providence last night and Petteri Nokelainen was recalled in his place. Providence's team has gelled together quickly and is doing very well, Chiarelli. Don't. Mess. That. Up.
Mike Brown, on recall to Providence because Jordan is on recall to Boston, played for the pBs in net last night. It was his first regular-season start for the pBs ever, and he did well. I won't lie; I didn't have much confidence in him at the start, mostly because all I've seen of his play is warm-ups and training camp (though, I was at his 3-0 preseason shutout over Springfield last season), but I was quite delighted in his play. Matt Lashoff was all het up and took several penalties, which struck me as odd. I know I tend to forget everything over the summer, but I don't really recall Matt being much of a fighter. Last night, though, there was a bee in his bonnet over something, and it was an interesting change of pace. I'm still not quite sure if I prefer it over what my impression of him was. Pascal Pelletier factored into all three of Providence's goals (two assists and the GWG), proving to me yet again why I think he's such an asset to the team and why I enjoy having him in Providence. I do not want him to sign elsewhere at the end of this season when his contract is up.
So far, I'm 4-0 on the season, internets. I enjoy this. Going to the Boston/Ottawa game tonight will improve me to 5-0, because regardless of which team wins (let's go Sens!), I will enjoy the victory. This is called cheating, and I am OK with that. (What? It's acceptable. I am a fan of both teams. Yes, I am a marginally bigger fan of Ottawa than Boston, but it still counts.)
