Catching up, kind of.

So, I've been a little bit MIA. Sorry, internets. I've been a little bit stressed out with things going on in that annoying non-hockey part of life, and unfortunately, things around here took a giant backseat to that. The month of February is trying to break me, and I'm just trying to wait out the storm. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger and all that baloney.

So, a quick recap: Jeremy Reich, Mark Stuart, and Bobby Allen are all up in Boston. Bobby's been up there for awhile, Jeremy has been up there about two weeks, and Mark was just recalled this week for Boston's February roadtrip because Disney's Princesses on Ice are in Boston. Providence signed forward Julien Talbot to a PTO agreement this week, which - while I'm excited for new boys - I think is kind of silly, because we recalled Ned Havern awhile back. We let po' Ned take warmups, and then we make him sit for the games. Not quite sure I understand the thinking there (though there are all kinds of possibilities of scenarios), but just once, I'd like to see Ned play in a Providence game. Y'know, for giggles.

Providence had a ten game winning streak snapped by Manchester earlier this month, but is starting to build another- they have won their last four consecutive games- and they are 30-20-1-3 on their season, which is good for second place in the division. They are only 11 points behind the first-place Monarchs, who had their 12-game win streak snapped by Rochester last night. I'm awfully excited for these last few months and the playoffs.

Providence has been giving away promos almost every Friday night since the start of the new year, and while I dig free stuff, I've decided that next season, it would behoove them to spread the giveaways out more. The roar of the crowd during the game, however, is awesome. I am also pleased to report that last night's crowd managed to get a successful Wave going. Gold star for last night's crowd. However, I have decided that I am not what one would call a "big fan" of the crushing crowds and long lines at intermissions. The Dunk's remodel needs to progress FASTER (wider concourses!), though Dennis Packard and Jon Sigalet are both doing their dangdest to set it back by destroying that pretty, pretty new glass they installed this season. Dear boys: NO. Love, Heather. On a sugar high from his birthday cake frosting on Sunday, Dennis checked an opposing player into the boards, and loosened the glass in the corner. JessD and I made them stop the game (Hi, I do control the world) to fix it. Last night, Jon was shooting pucks in the last two minutes remaining in warmups (I absolutely love that he stays out there until the last possible second. When he was out with injury earlier last month, all the other bums on the team cleared the ice before the 2 minutes remaining mark), and took a chunk out of the pane behind the net. Crazy boys don't even know their own strength.

And in old news, Boston traded away Brad Stuart and Wayne Primeau for Andrew Ference and Chuck Kobasew. As much as I liked Brad and Wayne, and assuming that Chuck gets his visa issues worked out, I think Boston made out well in that trade. Unfortunately, I haven't even watched Boston on TV to know how they're doing, and I currently have 1219 unread hockey feeds in my RSS feeder, so I haven't even read about what might be going on out there in the big, bad world. Usually, even though I don't follow Boston with the same, um, enthusiasism that I follow Providence, I keep up-to-date with the news and such. Yeah, February has seen to it that I haven't had the energy to deal with that, either. I quit being a grownup, man. Pictures from last weekend and this weekend in Providence to come soon.

Heather. Being a grown-up is overrated. Hang in there!

Heather,
I saw this winter storm you speak of on t.v. - where I am from we call days like that "summer".

Also, Andrew Ference is a nice addition to the Boston roster. He is a player we needed - a very good defensive defenceman. He is a little guy who likes to take care of business in his own end and loves to hit. He plays with alot of heart - this is my kind of player.

Finally, on a non-Bruins note but of AHL interest, Dan LaCosta of Syracuse was named AHL player of the week ending on Feb. 4th. I figured it might interest you because he is a "goalie" who was just called up from Dayton. He is from Labrador City (where I live) and I am friends with his father. I have actually coached and refed this kid on several occasions.

Hopefully you will be able to post a little more often for the remaining of the season - take care!

Glad to see you back at it girl. I always love reading what you got to write, so write on!

Also good to see everyone at the Dunk for the Reds Tribute game, I got busted again taking photos, lol. I did get some nice shots and I can't wait to see what you took that night too.

Cinde: thanks. I'm trying.

Jimmy: *I* can handle driving in inclement weather. It's most other people 'round here who can't. I dabbled with following Dayton last year because of Mike Ayers. Also, what's with the quotes around goalie when you refer to Dan as one? Is he like, a fake goalie?

Alan: if I have told you once, I have told you a thousand times: a) do not sit on an aisle seat, and b) just move sections. The AHL has no regulations against cameras, and Providence has none posted. And so help me, if you consistently getting in trouble because you won't listen to me does something to change the way I am used to things going, I'm gonna have to take you out. And I have time to make it creative.
