Providence 2, Hartford 3.

Good afternoon, internets. I am typing at you while wearing pajamas and drinking coffee, because I am lazy, and also, I just love me some coffee.

I stopped watching the Boston game yesterday somewhere after Carolina's first goal because I was bit by a fit of productivity. By all accounts, I didn't miss much, except Carolina's next four goals and a single tally by Boston. It's probably wrong of me to admit this to you, internets, but I'm going to do it just the same: I still inwardly cheer for boys like Eric Staal and Chad Larose, who were with Lowell during the season lost to the lockout in '04-'05. Even though it was at Boston's expense, hurrah for Carolina playing well yesterday.

Last night, I went to the pB game versus the Hartford Wolf Pack. Hannu started in net, as promised earlier this week by the Boston papers. Scratches included Nate DiCasmirro and Martins Karsums. Have I mentioned lately that I really kind of hate Boston for stashing boys down here? Because I do. Nate and Martins are typically two players that wouldn't be unincluded from the lineup, but yet, here in the land o' extraneous hockey boys, they are. I do not envy Gordon his decision-making, but it doesn't mean I have to like the final gametime rosters.

Hartford scored first, and from that point on, Providence was constantly playing to catch up and tie. We'd tie, and then Hartford would score again, and it was back to playing catch-up. Providence tends to play really well in general, but it's almost as if they play their best hockey when they are behind. I'm sure the added pressure of being behind is possibly a giant motivator. And yes, you can file the previous statements under "thanks for the observation, Captain Obvious."

Both of Providence's goals came from Kris Versteeg (assists: Pascal Pelletier, Yan Stastny and Ben Walter) last night, but in the ProJo, he gives all the props to his linemates who had the assists. However, despite playing well and getting to the net (Providence had 35 shots on net, total), we just couldn't get past Hartford and Stephen Valiquette (I'd been hoping to see Al Montoya again), and lost, 3-2. Hannu faced 21 shots in total, but Hartford scored all three goals in their first 16 shots. Not Hannu's best night, but it certainly wasn't his worst, either. He's starting in Portland against the Pirates tonight, and possibly Sunday in Lowell when the pBs take on the Devils. After that, it's expected Boston will make a decision about recalling him.

In other news, my pal Hockeygirl at Double D(ion) has a superpost up about fangirls vs. puckbunnies. I don't recall if SVO has ever been seriously accused of being puckbunnyish, though I admit in the early years, I made an incredibly conscious effort to avoid such accusations and was very careful about how I worded things. I didn't contribute to the superpost, mostly because everyone else said what I was thinking before I could, and in some cases, it was much better articulated then what I was typing. Definitely worth a read if you're confused about the two types of female fan.

Ahhhh, Jack Daniels coffee. Best when "Irished up" with some Maxwell House single malt whisky!

I have never spiked my coffee, ever. The JD stuff is alcohol-free.

And if you're going to "Irish up" your coffee, at least do it with Jameson. Or Bailey's.
