Halloween - A Few Days Late ;)

So it takes me a little longer to write than Heather. I do apologize that I am sometimes not quite up to the minute and my news is old news. But with weekends such as this past weekend where I am going non-stop, and weekdays with the alarm going off at 4:45 am each morning for work, I sometimes find myself a bit tired and searching for time to sleep let alone write. On top of which, when someone who will remain nameless gives you their cold, well then at that point all bets are off ;)

With that said, what a weekend it was. Heather filled you in on all the "technical aspects" of the hockey happenings, but how about some of the more casual ones. While suffering from being doped out on Dayquil, (which I take full responsibility for slipping her since I felt bad for taking meds and leaving her hanging) she must have forgotten some key points. Friday night in Providence was designated by us to be "Honorary Halloween". Yes, yes, we dressed up for the game! Ana dressed as a Witch, Britt as a Bunny Cocktail Waitress, Heather as a Celebrity Undercover and I as a Bruins Cheerleader. I have to give credit where credit is due to Heather for putting a lot of sweat and blood into making my costume for me! We picked the pattern and the colors and off she went :) It was such a fun night despite feeling so crummy. Admittedly, I did have a few moments where I felt silly being dressed up, but overall, it was a blast. I got a bunch of the guys to sign my costume, which was a hoot and I give them a lot of credit for being such good sports about it! I think Bobby Allen won for best comment of the night and it may have earned him a spot on my "favorites" list.....though strike that from memory as I am trying my very best not to reveal that list! :) Petr Tenkrat also made me smirk with his comment so kudos to him!

While on the subject of costumes, I guess word spread quickly to Boston. Saturday night I conned Cheri and Heather into working the Boston Bruins game with me. Though I don't think I had to twist their arms very hard! We took to the T.D. Banknorth Garden ready to convince those fans to empty their wallets and purses to raise money for the Bruins Foundation via the 50/50 raffle, and empty them they did. At the last minute I decided not to wear my costume...a decision I regretted slightly later on. All kinds of people showed up to the game sporting their Halloween best! We had a Sumo Wrestler, McDonald's French Fries, McDonald's Milkshake, a few Witches, a man with an arrow through his head, Superman (he sported a great personality too!), and many more! I think that next year, Providence and Boston should make an official Halloween Night! Could make for a lot of fun!

In an added note, last night, November 1, 2006, was the first "Tip A Bruin" of the year. It took place at Dave and Buster's at the Providence Place Mall. After two days of a vicious commute to and from Boston, I was ready to relax and have a few laughs....and a few laughs we had. Ryan Glenn, Kris Versteeg and Jay Leach were on hand to sell raffle tickets, teddy bears, shirts, and discounted tickets to the game. Props to Jay Leach! When he one day retires from hockey (and I hope that is not for a VERY LONG time), he has a career waiting for him in sales. Between his fantastic pitch and charm, he was able to sell us on a few items. All three players were happy to accommodate, taking pictures and making the evening even more enjoyable. I do have to admit the "star" of the night was our waiter Cole! Anyone who can take on Heather, Cheri and myself and still be standing at the end of the evening is outstanding in my book! He tolerated our random requests, ok, my random requests, and even posed for pictures with us! Should I return to Dave and Buster's I think I will request to have Cole as my server! The next "Tip A Bruin" is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, 2006 at Fire and Ice at the Providence Place Mall from 6pm - 8 pm, players to be determined.
