A couple things, because it's late at night, and what says "fun" like a rambling hockey post when it's past my bedtime?
In the Bruins Blog on Boston.com, Nancy Marrapese-Burrell says that Mark Stuart might be sent down to Providence as part of his rehabilitation from his off-season knee surgery. I won't lie to you, internets: I kind of like this idea. I kind of feel like Boston stole him at the end of last season, and theft does not provide closure. I like closure on my seasons past.
Andrew Alberts is expected to return to the line-up (separated shoulder) in Boston this Thursday, which means that Boston will have to decide on whether to keep Matt Lashoff in Boston or return him to Providence. If his reassignment coincides with a rehab stint by Mark Stuart, then Providence will have two extra defensemen. Ryan Glenn was kept on as the seventh d-man this season, and it was exciting to get to see him get some playing time when Matt was called up. I would hate to see him going back to being a healthy scratch.
Speaking of Matt Lashoff... if you're a fan of either him or art or both, or you know someone who is, the pBruins e-mail has a shopping tip for you--
Last season as a member of the Kitchener Rangers, Matt Lashoff did a painting for the Kidney Foundation's "A Brush of Hope" campaign. Lashoff's painting will go on Ebay on Nov 2 and will be open to bidding until Nov 12, with all proceeds going to kidney research. 100 other celebrities are participating, including hockey stars Todd Bertuzzi, Cassie Campbell, Paul Henderson, Scott Stevens and RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson. Just type "Kidney Foundation" or "Matt Lashoff" to find his painting.
Wednesday, Nov. 1, pBruins will be at Dave & Buster's in the Providence Place Mall, selling tickets and other items to help raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. If you can get over the fact that D&B's practically deep-fries your sandwich (this is an affront to my sandwich lovin' self), it's a good time. pB defenseman Ryan Glenn, forward Kris Versteeg, and capt'n Jay Leach will be in attendance, or so the pB e-mail said.
In weekend game news, a quick summary: Providence won over Portland Saturday night, 7-4. Jordan Sigalet got his first start of the season. Dave Krejci now leads the team in points with 8 (2 g, 6a), with Pascal Pelletier taking second place with 7 points(5g, 2a), and Petr Tenkrat taking third place with 6 points (1g, 5a). Goaltender Brian Finley is third in the league amongst goaltenders for minutes played.
Boston won Saturday night, 2-1, over the Senators. I would like to delicately point out that the first goal by PJ Axelsson was scored just moments after I took a seat and was able to watch the game. I would also like to state that for the record, the winning 50/50 ticket that night was a ticket sold by myself and Cheri. I am clearly a lucky charm, though I don't look as good in green as that leprechaun does. Remember that, internets. (I get a cut of all your winnings, though.)
In non-hockey news, Mozilla has released FireFox 2.0, and if you're still choosing to use Internet Explorer over FireFox, I'm not so sure we can be friends any more. FireFox is a much better web browser, and best of all, it's FREE. Download it today and do yourself and your internet a favor.
