Catching up.

Tonight, Providence is at Lowell, Boston is at Pittsburgh, and Manchester is playing San Antonio.

To recap the weekend:
THURSDAY
Boston vs Montreal- win, 3-1. Tim Thomas was in net. Goals from:

FRIDAY
Providence vs Albany- shoot-out loss, 4-3. Jordan was in net for Providence, and Providence goals came from Ben Walter, Eric Healey, and Zdenek Blatny. Albany got two assists each out of Danny McGillis and Alexander Mogilny. I... wish Dan was still a Bruin. I miss him in Boston. Providence was kept scoreless in the shoot-out, and Albany got the only goal they needed in the SO from David Clarkson. (Jordan stopped Mogilny. I was so very very very very proud!)

Manchester vs Springfield- win, 4-2. Adam Hauser was in net for Manchester. Goals came from Rich Seeley, Greg Hogeboom, Matty Ryan, and Brad Smyth.

SATURDAY
Boston @ Montreal, loss, 2-0. Tim Thomas was in net. All the goals scored were from those damn Canadiens. Huet was in net for Montreal. This was his first shut out of the year.

Providence @ Bridgeport loss, 4-1. Jordan was in net for Providence, allowing 4 goals on 38 shots. Tyler Redenbach had Providence's only goal (unassisted). Garth Snow was in goal for Bridgeport.

Manchester vs Hamilton loss, 2-1, in overtime. Barry Brust was in net for Manchester, and Yann Danis was in net for Hamilton.

Lowell vs Albany, loss 5-3. This was Rats' Mike Sgroi's first game back after a ten-game suspension for beating on pB Garret Stroshein in the penalty box.

SUNDAY
Boston vs Carolina, shoot-out loss, 4-3. Boston remains the only team who cannot win in a shoot-out. Tim Thomas was in net. Goals from David Tanabe, Braddy Boyes, and Braddy Stuart. It was odd seeing boys from Lowell in Boston - Eric Staal, Chad Larose, Mike Commodore, Cam Ward (who I'd really hoped would start in net)... Newest Hurricane Doug Weight scored the winning goal in the shoot-out for Carolina. I HATE THE SHOOTOUT. HATE.

Providence vs Lowell- win, 4-3. Jordan Sigalet was in net (his 11th start in 12 games. He now has 1192 minutes played). Providence goals from: Zdenek Blatny, Tyler Redenbach, Jason MacDonald, and Mark Stuart. Tyler Weiman was in net for Lowell (called up from San Diego; his only other AHL start was the win over Providence at Lowell on Dec 28), and they recieved goals from Vince Bellissimo, Chris Hajt, and Cody McLeod. Jordan had 22 saves on 25 shots, and Tyler had 22 saves on 26 shots.

OVERALL STANDINGS:
Boston: 10th place, 55 GP, 23-23-9, 55 PTS
Providence: 4th place, 48 GP, 26-19-1-2, 48 PTS
Manchester: 2nd place, 48 GP, 28-14-2-4, 62 PTS
Lowell: 5th place, 52 GP, 20-24-4-4, 48 PTS

Tim Thomas is still 3rd on the list of top goalies in the AHL (26 GP, 1515 min, 15-11-0, with 737 shots faced, and 57 goals allowed), and Jordan's now on the list in 18th place (21 GP, 1192 min, 10-8-2, with 507 shots faced and 56 goals allowed). Barry Brust (Manchester) is 6th, Adam Hauser is 13th (also Manchester), and Lowell's Vitaly Kolesnik is 17th.

Boston's IR update: QUESTIONABLE FOR Feb 8: Nick Boynton (upper body), Brian Leetch (groin), Wayne Primeau (wrist), Marco Sturm (upper body). IR: Hannu (ankle), Ian Moran (knee), and Jess's FAVORITE player, Alexei Zhamnov (ankle).

Miscellaneous things:

Better late then never- an article from Dec on Jordan Sigalet.

Should the NHL ever have another lockout, the Stanley Cup will be awarded to the greatest Canadian amateur team.

I heard about the gambling ring involving Rick Tocchet and Janet Gretsky. This is what Bill Daly has to say about it.

Dear ESPN.COM:
Please quit with the talking on the site. You know what I'm talking about. Those video clips that automatically load, and they have all the talky-talky. Just because I have speakers turned on does not mean I want to hear you. Particularly when I load multiple sites in tabs, and then I have to dig through all my tabs to find the source of all the talking. I'll be really honest- at first I thought it was God talking to me. Imagine my disappointment when I find out it's just you.
Please cut it out.
Love,
Heather

That's a shame that Zhamnov is still out. I mean, we are BFFs and everything! I hope that guy at the Ottawa game is dealing as well as I am with Zhamnov's injury. I could start a support group, but I think we would be the only two people in it.

I'll join, Jess! I gotta support my boys :)

Heh, I was hoping Cammy would've started on Sunday too. He was definetly one of my favorite players from last season and he's doing pretty darn well in Carolina.

The P-Bruins just got Brian Eklund for Tampa in exchange for Blatny. It was obvious the Bruins were trying to bring in a goaltender to split time with Sigalet. Looks like this is the guy we're gonna have to rely on down the stretch.

Haha nice Caitie! That makes a whole 3 of us in the support group. Zhamnov is so loved! We're all mourning his absence.
