1. KDP has an article exploring the future of Boston under the new CBA free agency rules regarding Thornton/Samsonov, and how it might be smart to trade Joe. If Boston trades Joe, and Detroit's courtin' Glen Murray, who is going to check my film off the boards to let me know I'm loved?
2. Boston Herald beat writer Stephen Harris has an article discussing the new scheduling format's attempt to revive old rivalries and save on travel expenses. Boston has to play Nashville IN NASHVILLE this coming season. As I have decreed this, so it be law. A Boston game in Nashville has been a planned get-together for Jenni, Lori, and myself for over a YEAR now. We have been patient, but I decline to comment on how thin the patience is wearing. Heavens above help the schedule-maker who denies us this game.
3. ESPN's Scott Burnside has an article about the players meeting in Toronto today to ratify the new CBA.
4. Ben issued a challenge- name the top three best and the top three worst NHL cities for Sidney Crosby to land in with the weighted draft. I'm not partaking in the challenge for several reasons, but mostly because I have no strong feelings, one way or another, about where I want Crosby to end up. It'd be nice if it was Boston, because he and Patrice played well together, but I'm not going to be heartbroken if it's somewhere else. I think that hope that Crosby will have an immediate impact on reviving interest in the entire league is a lot to foist on the shoulders of one kid, and I am glad I am not his mama, because I would stress out about that every night. He is probably also glad I am not his mama, as he would have been born with no grace or coordination, and well, you need those two things in hockey.

Jaci said: Confirmation here, entire Predators schedule released. *sigh* I want my Bruins schedule now.
ellen said: You can always meet here in Raleigh when the Bruins play here - twice - not as nice as Nashville and the rink sucks but at least its the BRUINS!!!! I also know the hotel where they stay - nudge nudge say no more!!!
ellen said: So, what are they going to knock off the dasher when you go digital???
Donna said: Seeing Crosby in a Bruins or, dare I say it, Canadiens uniform would be incredible. Talk about reinvirogating an original six rivalry and maybe even a league. Rivalries did wonders for baseball and basketball when they had their struggles in the 90s. Of course, there are other rivalries, but I'm entirely biased here. ;) I can't help it.
I better not get attached to this idea.
Heather said: The new schedule is designed to beef up old rivalries, so regardless of where Crosby ends up, the Boston/Montreal thing will flare up again; especially since some people are still holding old grudges over the 2004 playoffs. I think that a lot of people are pinning a lot of hopes on this Crosby kid, from the hope that he'll revive the league to the hope that he'll revive the local market he ends up in. I think that's a dangerous thing to do to an 18 year old kid, regardless of how exceptional a hockey player he is. For the past year, it's been the Crosby Show, and I'm not sure if it's because he's really just that good (I have not seen him play), or if it's because there was just little else to talk about, but I think that a lot of care is going to need to be taken with this.
And I'm so very angry that there's no Boston (or Ottawa) game in Nashville this season. This is expressly against my wishes, and SOMEONE is going to HEAR ABOUT IT. Who that someone is, I do not yet know, but THIS IS NOT HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO.
And that's right! With a digital, I'll have no need for film! Maybe I'll have to start buying a beer. Or bring empty film canisters in remembrance of those fun times.
Jessica said: Skip the beer on the boards; too messy ;)
stacy said: OMG...that's right! Yeah, no beer b/c I put mine up by the glass one nite and WHAM!! Curry checked Orr and got beer all over me!!! So skip the beer!! :D
Caitie said: I'm hoping that Boston gets Crosby. But it's unlikely since Boston will only get 1 ping-pong ball for the draft ::crosses fingers::
